International Women's Day events
Plus some important talk on tariffs - hey I don't want to talk about it, but we must!

“When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful” - Malala Yousafzai
Hey everyone, this weekend’s looking busy! There are plenty of events for International Women’s Day. Plus a whole lineup of other things happening around the city. Should be a good one!
Since the Winnipeg General Strike of 1919, our city has been a champion of equality. I believe we're a leader in this fight, and the federal government’s decision to build the Human Rights Museum here stands as undeniable proof.
As we celebrate International Women's Day, it's a reminder that the fight for equality is far from over. Winnipeg’s history of advocacy lives on, and today, we continue pushing for a future where every woman has the opportunities, respect, and rights they deserve.

WINNIPEG HERO SERIES
This section is all about the everyday heroes who make our city great.
I tied to pick a remarkable Manitoba woman to talk about. Instead, I’ve found so many on the Nellie McClung Foundation website, I decided to hour them all. First of all, Nellie McClung was the most well-known and influential member of the Famous Five. She was a writer, championed women's right to vote, prohibition, and greater roles for women in both the church and public life.
Her foundation celebrates 150 remarkable women in Manitoba. I highly recommend checking it out: (link)

🍁TARIFF TALK🍁
I was grabbing my coffee when I saw Trudeau’s live feed on tariffs. No surprise, it’s impossible to avoid the conversation these days.
And let’s be real, it’s not looking great. Canada’s in for some hurt. What that means for Winnipeg? That’s the big question.
But here’s the thing—when times get tough, we don’t back down. We stick together. So if the USA wants to see real solidarity, watch Canada. We don’t go down easy. 🍁🍁
